Kelly MacDonald
I am a contemporary abstract landscape oil painter.
I am fascinated by old architecture, abandoned buildings.
Buildings that were once bright and filled with life- but now faded.
The theme I like to explore is: “If These Walls Could Talk”.
The stories within that shine through the walls
Old polaroids with distorted colours and blurred images influence my approach to my subjects. My palette is bold. Building layers and uncovering new colours, adding texture with crayon. Scribbling & fun.
Recently retired from a successful career in Fashion. I would consider myself an emerging - full time artist. My passion for drawing has been a constant in my life. I am largely self taught – however rounding out my education with classes, workshops , the mentorship and advice of some talented local artists.
It is with fresh eyes that I see the landscape. I appreciate the beauty of these forgotten buildings – whether they are surround by square modern soulless buildings in the city or stand alone in the landscape. They touch my heart and feel they demand our attention
